The earliest records found so far show that Meador & Co. first began as early as 1942 here in the Roanoke Valley, making it the oldest operating locksmith company in Roanoke and one of the oldest in the state. It was opened by Wray Meador when the most common locks were mortise locks and bit key or skeleton key locks. Meador & Co. opened its first location on Church Ave. in downtown Roanoke.

By 1981 Meador & Co. had grown to become the largest and most knowledgeable locksmith company to serve not only the Roanoke Valley but all of Southwest Virginia. To keep up with the needs of the area Meador & Co. hired Danny Washburn to its team of locksmiths, bringing the first Certified Locksmith to the Roanoke Valley.

In 1982 Meador & Co. was bought by Danny and his wife Cynthia Washburn who have owned it since. In 1985, Meador & Co. was now the only locksmith in the area to focus our expertise in these areas. Operating under the same name, and still located on Church Ave. Meador & Co. operates under the same ethics and values that it started with in the 1940's making it a true landmark to the Roanoke Valley.

Now with over 60 years of operation backing our company, Meador & Co. continues its growth to continue to offer a level of home and business security that is unmatched by anyone in the state. Along with knowledge and techniques passed down through the generations within the company, we also encourage the continuing of education of our employees. Meador & Co. is owned by Cynthia and Danny Washburn and is located at 606 3rd. St. Vinton, Va.

Unlike other companies whose locksmiths may be working without certification or only with partial certification, our locksmiths have completed their certification prior to working in the field. This is because we feel that for our customers security, locksmiths should complete their certification prior to representing themselves as a security professional. In addition, Meador & Co. is licensed through The Department of Criminal Justice and all of our employees are DCJS registered, fingerprinted, and have extensive state and federal background checks preformed regularly. Here at Meador & Co. we take every precaution to ensure the security of our clients because we feel that security is more than just a word used in advertisements.
